MOT View: Leeds defenders comments on loanee could prove permanent signing makes sense
Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has selected Illan Meslier as the funniest member of the squad at Elland Road.
That could come as a surprise to many, with the 20-year-old only being on loan until the end of the season and only making three senior appearances.
Ayling’s comments on the keeper could prove that he has settled in perfectly and could make a smart permanent addition for Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking during a Q&A on Leeds’ official Instagram account, Ayling admitted that the youngster had settled in really well.
“I’m going to say the big goalie [Illan Meslier],” he said.
“He’s come in this year and he’s so dry. Illan is just so funny, some of the stuff he comes out with. No one thinks he’s going to be like that, he’s got quite a serious face but he’s a really funny guy.”
Meslier seems very closed off but behind-closed-doors he could really come alive to his teammates – who would surely welcome his permanent signature.
