Mateusz Klich admits curiosity when commenting on future of “great” Leeds star

Mateusz Klich has admitted that he expects Leeds United teammate Kalvin Phillips to cement his spot in the England national side.

The Polish international was more interested in which initiation song Phillips will perform when joining up with the Three Lions at St. George’s Park next week.

Phillips made history on Tuesday, becoming the first Leeds player to represent England since Alan Smith way back in 2004.

Klich admitted it was fully deserved, and that it is just the beginning for the Yorkshire Pirlo on the international scene.

“I’m very happy for him, he’s a great player,” he told the official club website.

“The England national team is going to be the future for him. I’m very curious what his first initiation song is going to be next week!”

This is in Klich’s nature, and he loves to make a joke regarding anything he can in-and-around Elland Road, something we all love to see.

Klich responded to an interview Phillips did recently, where he thanked his teammates for their help in the past two seasons – something he simply replied with “You are welcome mate.”

This harmony within the squad is the best we have seen since the Premier League days, and we couldn’t be in a better spot to enter the top-flight once again.

Klich has been around the international scene with Poland for a number of years, and with upcoming games against Iceland and Denmark for Phillips, he will know what it takes to succeed at that level.

We can’t wait to see the 24-year-old get his first taste of action in either of those games, and we’re sure the rest of the squad will be tuning in too.
