Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas pay tribute to Chris Loftus and Kevin Speight 20 years on

It has been 20 years since Leeds United fans Chris Loftus and Kevin Speight were tragically lost in Istanbul on April 5 2000.

Chris and Kev were murdered in the Turkish city ahead of Leeds’ UEFA Cup semi-final clash against Galatasaray.

They were two massive Leeds supporters who travelled to watch their team play, but sadly never returned home.

Leeds have paid tribute to Chris and Kev, 20 years on since we tragically lost them, and Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas have also joined in with the tributes.

“Never forgotten,” said right-back Ayling via his personal Twitter account.

Dallas posted on his Twitter account: “RIP Chris and Kev.”

In 2010, four men were sent to prison for a combined total of 28 years and four months for the murder of Chris and Kev after an extensive period of campaigning by friends and family.

Unfortunately, no amount of time in prison will ever do justice for the loss of two members of the Leeds United family. Two fans who simply wanted to watch their team play football in the semi-finals of a European competition.

It really is one of the saddest days in the history of Leeds and every year, on April 5, we will remember them.

In other Leeds United news, Gary McSheffrey has expressed regret over his loan spell at Leeds.
