‘Dreadful’, ‘Absolutely not’ – These Leeds fans react to donated statue of Bielsa

One of the pieces of news to catch our eyes this week was Leeds United being offered a statue of head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds Live revealed that lifelong Whites fan Tony Clark has had the statue commissioned from Asia, and is ready to give it to the club once it arrives.

One of many obvious talking points is does it really resemble Bielsa? Let’s be honest, it isn’t terrible but the top half of his head could do with some work (not like we’d do better).

It’s nice to see fans having something to discuss rather than when we might see football back on our screens so we can complete the final nine games of the season.

And discuss is exactly what we did, with the majority claiming that the statue is one of the worst thing they’ve seen this season as they lose control over the shape of Bielsa’s head – something we didn’t expect to be writing about anytime soon.

Only Billy Bremner and Don Revie currently have statues outside of the East Stand at Elland Road as we speak, and Bielsa hasn’t achieved anything close to what they did at the club.

Having said that though, this statue looks much smaller and it is hard to even predict where it would even go compared to the two already at the club.
