Leeds United on brink of hiring tech-savvy Daniel Farke as £750,000 development emerges

Leeds United are on the brink of hiring former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke, according to the Irish Daily Mail.

The newspaper noted that the incoming boss is tech-savvy, having pushed for the Canaries to become the first club to install the ‘SoccerBot360’, a £750,000 device designed to help players improve their touch.

Farke would be replacing Sam Allardyce in the Leeds dugout, with the former having left the club upon their relegation to the Championship.

“Splashing the cash may be the fastest way to win in football, but Leeds are on the brink of hiring a manager who is fond of finding other ways to best their rivals,” according to the Irish Daily Mail (page 52, 30 June). “Ways that include trusting the young talent they already have and utilising technology.

“At Norwich, for example, Farke pushed for them to become the first club in the country to install the ‘SoccerBot360’ – a £750,000 circular room surrounded by video walls.

“The idea was their players, young and old, would stand inside the circle and use a ball to strike the targets popping up on the virtual screens around them, thereby improving their awareness and accuracy.”

Exciting times

Leeds have been linked with several managers ever since Allardyce left Elland Road, with the likes of former world-class players Steven Gerrard and Patrick Vieira among the names mentioned.

But Farke looks likely to be the next man in the dugout at the West Yorkshire club, and his appointment should definitely excite Leeds supporters.

And this latest technology development should also excite Whites fans, with the club in desperate need of innovation and change as they look to immediately bounce back to the Premier League.

If appointed, Farke will have a long to-do list this summer, but hitting the training ground and working on innovative projects will definitely help the club’s bid to return to the top flight.

Whether or not the current group of players is up for the task, however, remains to be seen, with the new boss definitely going to bring in some new faces to help get Leeds back to their best.

In other Leeds United news, one Whites player has decided on a Newcastle United transfer amid “financial temptations.”
