Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch ‘a punter’ at Manchester City v Liverpool

There is no rest for the wicked at the moment with Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch taking no time off as he attends Manchester City vs Liverpool today.

The 33-year-old American oversaw his team comfortably brushing Watford aside yesterday with a resounding 3-0 win at Vicarage Road thanks to goals from Raphinha, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison.

The Whites headed back to Yorkshire happy and ready for a day of rest but Marsch isn’t interested in putting his feet up as he heads to the Etihad Stadium for the potentially title-deciding clash.

The Independent’s football correspondent Miguel Delaney reported, via his personal Twitter account, that he had bumped into the Leeds manager hours before kick-off in Manchester.

“Just walked by Jesse Marsch, who is taking in the game as a punter,” Delaney said.

Goole Academy PE on Twitter also shared an image of Marsch with a number of students outside the Etihad Stadium before the big game kicked off.

Leeds will host the Citizens on 30 April so could be more than just a punter as he tries to figure out a way to beat Pep Guardiola’s star-studded squad at Elland Road.

Keep doing what we’re doing

There will be a temptation today as Marsch sits in the stands and watches the biggest game of the Premier League season to be over-analytical of the City team and how to potentially beat them.

The boss will spot all kinds of tiny things that he might think he can exploit but all that matters is that City are an extremely good football team.

Whatever tactics he might have up his sleeve could become completely irrelevant if they start best and score once or twice in the first 20 minutes.

He can pinpoint threats to keep an eye on but if he starts to focus too much on one area, then he will realise how good City are everywhere and be exposed elsewhere.

The chances are that whoever Guardiola selects today won’t be the same side that comes to Elland Road at the end of the month so a lot of what he will see may become irrelevant too.

The best thing he can do is play exactly how he has been since he arrived in Yorkshire because it has clearly been working given yesterday’s 3-0 win and the four-game unbeaten run the Whites are on.
