Leeds United make bid to sign Chelsea player Ethan Ampadu as transfer news drops

Leeds United have made a bid to sign Chelsea player Ethan Ampadu this week, according to The Evening Standard.

The newspaper has reported on its website that the London club are weighing up the offer for the Welsh international, who is now set to leave Stamford Bridge.

It is stated that Chelsea currently value Ampadu at £12million, although it is unknown what Leeds have currently offered to take him off their hands.

Leeds are on the verge of having their takeover of the 49ers Enterprises finally confirmed, and could look to kickstart their transfer business with this move.

Ampadu has been on plenty of loan moves away from Chelsea over the years, mainly to Italy, but now finally looks set to move on permanently.

Moves.

With the 49ers expecting to receive confirmation of their takeover soon, it appears as though they are ready to start letting the cash fly in this window.

Daniel Farke has made it no secret that he wants and needs new signings, and this could be his very first senior arrival since his own appointment a couple of weeks ago.

Marc Roca has become the latest in a long line to leave the club today, with Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Brenden Aaronson among the others to free up big wages.

It looks as though their exits has given Leeds the space and cash to make their own moves, and signing Ampadu would be a real statement of intent.

The Welshman can play in holding midfield, as well as in defence, two areas that Farke wants to strengthen and this would help both of those areas.

This is certainly one to watch as the week kicks off with a bang.
