Leeds United make another approach for new manager as contact made with Tata Martino

Leeds United have made yet another approach to appoint a new manager with Tata Martino now under the spotlight, according to TNT Sports.

The outlet has reported on its website in the past 24 hours that the Whites have made contact with the former Mexico coach, who left his role at the World Cup in Qatar.

Martino is yet to respond to the approach from Elland Road, with his initial intention to start a new role over the summer where he has more time to build a side.

Leeds have made it simple in their message to whoever replaces Jesse Marsch in West Yorkshire, simply avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Martino is yet to rule out the offer, with Valencia also said to be interested in the Argentine after getting rid of Gennaro Gattuso in recent weeks.

Elland Road has been busy since Marsch departed, with moves for Carlos Corberan, Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola all failing, with Alfred Schreuder, also being added to that list over the weekend.

Precious Time.

It has now been more than a week since Jesse Marsch was sacked, and Leeds are no closer to putting a deal together for a new manager to take the reins.

Michael Skubala has done a decent job, but the reality is, Leeds have still not won in their last two and are only one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Whoever comes in needs to make this side much more effective, rather than dominating areas of the pitch, turning that into regular wins and points.

Could Martino be that man?

Not many will know much about the South American, and given his disappointing World Cup with Mexico, it doesn’t full us with much hope that this would be right.

Given that Schreuder was turned down due to his lack of experience in the English game [90min], we doubt that these links have any legs, and will likely be shut down soon.

The search goes on.
