Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk sends message on Twitter

Pascal Struijk has delivered a strong message on Twitter ahead of a crucial month of February for Leeds United.

The Dutchman has been in very good form since returning from injury, and he is expected to play a big role as Leeds look to climb up the table.

The Whites had gone through a frustrating month of January, failing to bolster their squad, when they desperately needed it.

Struijk wrote on Twitter: “February. Let’s make it count!”

Disappointing January

There are two ways of looking at the January transfer window.

The Whites desperately needed to add players but they didn’t go for other options.

They wanted to sign Brenden Aaronson but the club couldn’t agree to a deal.

Leeds didn’t want to pay over the top, and they are happy to wait till the summer.

There was an interest in Takumi Minamino but they didn’t push hard for him either.

It shows Leeds are sticking with Marcelo Bielsa’s philosophy that they won’t sign players just for the sake of it.

But this wasn’t a normal window. Nobody expected them to splash money like Newcastle, but an immediacy was needed.

It also shows that the Whites didn’t have enough back up transfer plan alternatives, and that is not a healthy sign.

Leeds do have a squad that are capable of staying up. They will face Aston Villa, Everton, Manchester United and Tottenham this month, and the results could have huge bearings on their Premier League survival.
