Leeds United defender Junior Firpo now ruled out for another two weeks – report

Leeds United defender Junior Firpo is now ruled out for another two weeks, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the Spaniard will not be back for another fortnight after his knee injury picked up against Aston Villa.

Injury expert Ben Dinnery had suggested that Firpo could have returned against Watford tomorrow [09 April] but that isn’t the case.

Jesse Marsch is finally welcoming back most of his injured players.

Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips returned against Southampton and came through fine and are expected to start at Watford tomorrow.

That means that Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts are the only two long-term absentees at Elland Road at this moment.

Firpo as well as Jamie Shackleton will be back in the next two weeks, and Leo Hjelde is expected to be back within the next seven days.

Setback?

It was quite a big injury for Firpo, and after being stretchered off there were concerns he may have been done for the season.

Thankfully, he looks to be on the verge of a comeback and could be available for the final six games of the campaign.

Stuart Dallas has filled in at left-back perfectly so far, and Marsch may only have a spot for Firpo on the bench regardless of his return.

Having a full-strength squad available would be critical at this stage, with every player needed to fight off the relegation possibility.

Firpo has not yet hit the heights we expected after arriving from Barcelona, and injury has not helped that.

Hopefully, his quick return can give him that motivation to hit his top levels and make a real difference in the next month.
