Leeds United confirmed early team news ahead of Premier League showdown v Everton

Michael Skubala has confirmed Pascal Struijk is back in training for Leeds United ahead of their Premier League clash against Everton on Saturday.

The Dutchman suffered a concussion in last week’s draw against Manchester United and was ruled out of Sunday’s home fixture against the Red Devils.

Leeds’ caretaker boss has also confirmed that Marc Roca and Liam Cooper are “touch and go” for the huge fixture on Merseyside, with summer signing Luis Sinisterra “further behind” and set to miss this weekend’s action.

“We still have the long-term ones. Pascal is back training,” said Skubala (Leeds Live, 15 February)

“Cooper and Roca are touch and go and not far. We don’t want to take risks. Sonny Perkins is back on the pitch. We’re slowly getting strength back. Sinisterra is on his way back, but further back than Marc and Liam.”

Massive

Avoiding defeat against the Toffees is an absolute must for Leeds. Everton are just one point and one place behind them in a closely contested relegation battle. A win for either team will be absolutely massive. Michael Skubala’s side showed they’re capable of mixing it up with the best in the Premier League after their 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Toffees do have Sean Dyche in charge, but they will still be a much more favourable challenge compared to Erik ten Hag’s men. Everton are coming off of a defeat to Liverpool, Dyche’s first in charge, and are certainly beatable.

With Southampton playing Chelsea and West Ham travelling to Tottenham there’s a chance for the Yorkshire side to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three with a positive result.

The injury situation hasn’t got any worse and the Leeds’ caretaker will be hoping his squad can replicate their recent performances at Goodison Park.
