David Seaman wasn’t sold on Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch when he first joined the club

David Seaman has claimed that he wasn’t sold on Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch when he was appointed as their new manager last season.

Seaman is a Leeds United fan and spent his youth career with the club, however, he spent the majority of his career at Arsenal playing 521 games for the London outfit.

The former goalkeeper admitted that the American will have all of his confidence should he manage to keep the club in the Premier League once again and kick on.

Speaking on his podcast Seaman Says, the former Gunners shot-stopper spoke about the job Marsch has done at the club and his initial scepticism.

“I’ll be honest, last season I wasn’t sold on him,” he said as quoted by Leeds Live.

“I’m a little bit more sure now and just by the way they’re playing. They’re still playing with that full press, they seem to be a lot more organised which he seems to have put there.

“But with that, has got to come results and you need to get some consistency – and we haven’t really had that so far this season. It’s a little bit up and down, sometimes we’ll get a win and sometimes we’ll lose. As long as he keeps Leeds up, then he’ll have all my confidence for next season.”

Consistency.

Leeds United needs to find some consistency to prove Marsch’s tactics right, this may come as the season progresses but impatient Whites want to see it now.

Their sporadic form of late has been extremely worrying and the second half against Crystal Palace last Sunday was lacklustre and stale.

Marsch and Leeds have the chance this Sunday to put things right against Arsenal and they will have Elland Road backing them all the way.

The Gunners are in terrific form and coming off the back of a convincing win against Liverpool so any points gained will be seen as a decent effort from Leeds.

It would be nice to see Marsch give some youngsters a run-out, summer signing Wilfried Gnonto and Sonny Perkins are two elite talents that spring to mind.

Marsch has nothing to lose by giving the pair some minutes, Arsenal isn’t a game the Whites are expected to win and it would throw a spanner in the works for Mikel Arteta.

In other Leeds United news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered Jesse Marsch’s “sack” verdict after what he heard this month.
