Leeds United and Newcastle to take part in America tour as Premier League eyes exposure
Leeds United are set to take part in a pre-season tour of the United States along with five other Premier League clubs, according to The Athletic.
The outlet reported on Monday (13 February) that Leeds, along with Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea and two more unknown clubs will take part in friendlies on the east coast of the US in Philadelphia, Atlanta and New Jersey.
This, of course, is dependent on Leeds maintaining their Premier League status.

The tournament is part of the Premier League’s drive for further global expansion with the United States a blossoming market for football clubs.
The Atheltic claim the lack of a men’s major tournament this summer will draw more American eyes to the tour, if it goes ahead.

Leeds United States.
Despite Jesse Marsch’s recent sacking, there is still a strong presence of figures from the States on and off the pitch at Leeds United.
Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson and Weston McKennie are footballing heroes across the pond, as one glance at Twitter during any of the USMNT’s games during the World Cup would have shown you.
The potential takeover by the San Francisco 49ers also adds an interesting element to this story. If a takeover was to go through before this tour started, the club would be able to market Leeds to the American fanbase very easily.
This, in turn, will lead to shirt sales, presumably with the name and number of one of our American stars on the back, and a new generation Leeds United of supporters.
Sending six Premier League sides to the States is bound to generate interest and if we can exploit our club’s links with our American cousins then we could find ourselves with thousands of new fans and a valuable new revenue stream heading into 2022-23.
