Leeds loanee called back to Premier League side for assessment as Whites train at Thorp Arch
Jack Harrison was called back to Man City last week as the Premier League side assess their player ahead of his contract with Leeds United running out.
Harrison’s contract is set to expire this Sunday (May 31) but the Coronavirus outbreak has thrown confusion over loan contracts with nine games of the Championship still to play.
Extensions are expected to be sorted out.
The news was reported by Teeside Live after Man City also pulled two Middlesbrough players back to the Etihad – Patrick Roberts and Lukas Nmecha.
The good news for Leeds is that Man City have confirmed that Roberts and Nmecha will spend the rest of the season at the Championship club and they are expected to hook back up with teammates who began training this week shortly.
It’s fully expected that Harrison will be back at Leeds, although this could explain why he hasn’t been spotted at training this week.
Harrison is a player that Leeds fans have got high hopes for – although his future will depend on promotion.
Leeds have an option to sign the winger, who has kicked on in his second season under Bielsa, for a fee of around £8m according to Phil Hay.
Harrison has scored five goals this season but hasn’t hit the back of the net in 2020.
However, some of his best performances have come in that time and Harrison has been unlucky, hitting the woodwork on a number of occasions.
MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson is a big fan and thinks that he should be one of the first players that Leeds sign when the season is over.
If you look at his stats from the last two seasons you can see why.
Harrison has been involved in twice as many goals as last campaign when he was heavily criticised by fans.
More importantly, his average match rating has hit the 7 mark, which shows a level of consistency that was missing in the 18/19 campaign.
