Journalist shares ‘confident’ Leeds United managerial verdict despite ‘unsettling’ delay
Leeds United are “confident” of having a manager in place in time for the new Championship season, according to Leeds Live journalist William Jackson.
The Whites employed Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce last season as they were relegated from the Premier League.
The West Yorkshire outfit are currently without a manager, with the club set to get started in the Championship next season against Cardiff City on August 6.

“Pre-season gets underway on Sunday, with five weeks to go until the opening clash with Cardiff City, and the Whites are confident of having a manager in place by then,” Jackson wrote for Leeds Live.
“The delay is understandably unsettling, especially as supporters see clubs starting to make moves and spend money to get ready for the Championship season.
“Leeds are at the start line and in the blocks, but they haven’t yet heard the pistol they’re waiting for while others appear to make the most of their head start.”

Ticking clock
Given what happened with the three managers last time out, Leeds won’t want to rush into any decision involving their new manager.
The Whites will want to take as much time as possible to appoint the right person in the Elland Road dugout, but of course they will be fully aware that time is rapidly running out.
Their first worry will be the rapidly approaching new Championship campaign, with a top manager needed in the dugout to help them get off to the best start possible.
The other worry will be the fact that several top available managers are being snapped up elsewhere, so the Whites must move quickly in order to beat the competition.
Getting promoted to the Premier League will be the priority next season, but that is much easier said than done, particularly given how the club’s rivals are working hard behind the scenes to get their squads together.
