Jesse Marsch shares first Twitter post as Leeds United boss

Leeds United secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Brentford to secure their Premier League status on the final day (22 May) of the season.

The Whites were perilously close to getting relegated, but they managed to survive by the skin of their teeth. Burnley got relegated after they lost 2-1 against Newcastle United.

There were wild celebrations after the final whistle. Jesse Marsch took to Twitter to share his reaction. It was his first tweet after becoming the Leeds boss.

Marsch simply wrote: “Staying up.”

Huge credit

Marsch deserves big credit for the turnaround, although there’s plenty of work to do in the summer.

Marcelo Bielsa took the club to a top-half finish in the Premier League last season, but the Whites simply fell apart under him this season.

They were shockingly poor against big teams this season. There was no confidence in the side, it looked really bleak at that moment.

The arrival of Marsch saw an improvement in results. However, the situation once again became tense after the Whites lost three games in a row against Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

In a relegation battle, every point matters. Pascal Struijk scored an important equaliser against Brighton to earn a 1-1 draw that gave them hope in the battle for survival.

The summer transfer window will be huge for the club. The Whites will look to build from the scratch, and at the same time, Marsch will try to hold on to some of his star players.
