Jesse Marsch gives his take on Leeds United post-match huddle talks

Leeds United lost 1-0 against Leicester City in Jesse Marsch’s first game in charge since replacing Marcelo Bielsa.

One of the major talking points from the game actually involved what happened afterwards. Leeds players were seen in a huddle with Marsch giving them some advice.

Many pundits have found it bizarre, but the Whites boss suggested (6 March) he just delivered a simple message to the team.

The new Whites boss has revealed that he has spoken to Daniel James about the media attention it gathered, and he found it really “ridiculous”.

Marsch said (9 March) as quoted by Leeds Live: “So I have, I’ve spoken with James that the attention around this small little conversation with the group I find, frankly, hilarious and ridiculous.

“But whatever. Maybe people don’t see that much here. I’ve done that quite a few times in my career and positive moments and negative moments. And it’s about now making sure that we’re able to as a group process, what just happened and make sure that we’re clear on what was good, what was bad and how we’re going to move forward.”

No harm

Marsch is not Marcelo Bielsa. He is different.

He has come to the club with fresh new ideas and his style of management is different from that of the previous regime.

To be fair, English football has its own culture, and that is something we don’t see here.

However, this is not a bad thing, and who knows it could turn into something special in the future.

For example, when Jurgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool, the Reds were not as mighty as they are right now. It has taken him years to build the team and make them one of the best in the world.

After a game against West Brom which they drew, Klopp took his team to acknowledge the fans, and they celebrated at Anfield. He was brutally criticised for that.

In retrospection, now everyone feels that it was the first step towards building something extraordinary. Maybe, this can happen with Leeds as well.

In other Leeds United news, yet another Leeds player has had to undergo surgery.
