Jack Harrison names Leeds ace who is ‘definitely’ becoming more of a leader in squad

Jack Harrison has heaped praise on Patrick Bamford, claiming that the striker is becoming more and more of a leader at Leeds United.

Bamford has been in great form for the Whites in recent months, scoring six goals in his last 10 appearances and coming off the bench to have a major impact in the 1-1 draw at West Brom on New Years Day.

Although the ex-Chelsea striker failed to score against the Baggies, his header at goal – after Harrison’s cross – was deflected in off Semi Ajayi to score an own goal.

Leeds winger Harrison has pointed out the sort of positive impact that Bamford is making in Marcelo Bielsa’s side at the moment but believes that the striker is not the only one doing it.

“Definitely,” said Harrison, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, when asked if Bamford is becoming a leader. “He is playing a big role in the team this year and scoring goals and coming up with important moments.

“It is good as we have got the depth throughout our team, it is not just Patrick, but all the players who are capable of coming out with the impact on the game.”

Bielsa usually has a good instinct when it comes to his substitutions and we have seen plenty of times this season when Eddie Nketiah and Ezgjan Alioski have come off the bench to have a major impact.

Bamford has not had to come off the bench until the draw at West Brom due to him recovering from injury but it is good to see that he can change games when he is thrown into the action.

Leeds need to sort out their striker position this month because Nketiah’s return to Arsenal leaves Bamford as the Whites’ only out-and-out striker in the senior squad.

If Bamford gets another injury issue or something like a suspension then that could spell trouble for the Yorkshire giants.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could play a blinder by signing this striker from their Yorkshire rivals.
