‘I would regret saying no’ – 50y/o manager opens door to Bielsa reunion at Leeds
Argentinean manager Ricardo Lunari would consider reuniting with Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United if he was asked to head to West Yorkshire.
Lunari, 50, is currently in charge of Uruguayan club Colon but his coaching career was kickstarted by Bielsa after he hung up his boots in 2003.
Lunari not only played for Bielsa when the Leeds boss was in charge of Newells and Atlas but he was taken under Bielsa’s wing when he was training to be a coach.
The ex-Newells midfielder has since been in charge of a number of South American football teams ranging from Chilean club Santiago Morning, Bielsa’s former club Newells and Colombian giants Millonarios.
However it seems that Lunari would consider a move to England to team up with Bielsa if the Leeds boss came calling.
Speaking to Argentine news outlet Marca, Lunari said: “It would be very difficult to say no, but it is not easy to say yes either. Bielsa gives you everything, but demands 100 per cent. It is giving your life to him during the time you work with him. I am sure I would regret saying no.”
Bielsa must be so difficult to work with because he is such a perfectionist but he is someone who is so good at what he does, you can’t not work with him if the opportunity arose.
Lunari has a lot of experience of working with Bielsa as he’s played for him at two different clubs and was mentored to be a coach by him.
We wouldn’t be upset to see the 50-year-old swap Uruguay for England based on that.
In other Leeds United news, fans want to see this former midfielder back at Elland Road.
