‘He’s going to be very good’ – Bamford excited by Leeds player who was ‘unknown quantity’
Patrick Bamford has admitted he had no idea who Ben White was when Leeds United signed him on loan from Brighton in the summer.
White, 22, has played every minute of every Championship fixture since joining the Whites and his impressive performances have led to him being linked with top clubs in the Premier League.
The defender, who has previously had loans at Newport County and Peterborough, is no doubt a contender for the player of the season award at Leeds and in the Championship as a whole.
And Bamford has claimed White is someone who he could see winning the club’s award for his impressive performances.
“Ben was an unknown quantity, I certainly didn’t know about him before he came and he’s going to be very good,” said Bamford, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Even though White played against Leeds during his loan spell at Newport, not many United fans can say they knew much about the defender – if at all anything – before he joined the club in the summer.
However the centre-back is now hot on the lips of all supporters and pundits who watch Leeds while clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked with him in the transfer market.
We just hope that Leeds can be at least in the running to sign White when his loan deal ends because to do so, they will have to be in the Premier League and have a good transfer budget to play with.
