‘Great future ahead of him’ – MOT Super Fans pick breakthrough Leeds star for 19/20 season

Leeds United finally earned their category one status for the academy at Thorp Arch this season, and credit must go to all of the backroom staff.

The Whites are known for having one of the best academies in the country, even before this upgrade, and that has been highlighted by the number of youngsters that make the jump into the first-team.

Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk have impressed under Marcelo Bielsa this season, but it was Robbie Gotts who won the Academy Player of the Season.

Gotts made his debut in the FA Cup defeat at Arsenal, and Bielsa has mentioned players such as Alfie McCalmont who he has been impressed with.

El Loco always feels that he needs to find a spot in his squad for his younger players, and that has seen him frequently watching the under-23s this season.

Ian Poveda is another player who has caught the eye in the final month of the season after arriving from Manchester City, and there will be more that will continue to make that jump to the first-team in coming years.
