‘Excellent’ – Some Leeds fans react to one-word Phil Hay tweet when asked about squad
Marcelo Bielsa is still making his Leeds United squad turn up to training as usual despite the Championship being suspended until the end of the month.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay was asked on Twitter on Saturday whether the squad was still turning up to Thorp Arch despite the coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the world, to which the former Yorkshire Evening Post reporter replied: “Yes.”
Leeds are likely to be one of the only clubs doing this.
As far as we know, there are no Leeds players in self-isolation or have shown any signs of having the virus while some clubs have had to take drastic action.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confirmed to have contracted the virus while Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has also had it and other Premier League clubs have players who are self-isolating.
It seems that until there is anything that affects Leeds, Bielsa is happy for his players to continue training as normal in the hope that the Championship season will resume at some point.
Leeds fans on Twitter have offered varying opinions about this, with some happy to see everything resuming as normal while others do not see the point.
