Daniel Farke shares ‘unbelievable’ verdict on Leeds United star Joel Piroe

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has given a glowing assessment of new signing Joel Piroe after he scored on his debut v Ipswich on 26 August, calling the forward “unbelievable”.

The Dutch striker arrived at Elland Road on 24 August, making his debut on 26 August, and in typical fashion, managed to find the net showing his new club exactly what he can do and justifying the potential £16million fee.

Farke was full of praise for his new man, not only in his ability to find the back of the net but also in the way he brings his teammates into play, as well as his attitude off the pitch.

Speaking to Leeds Live following the victory against Ipswich, Farke said: “I think his statistics speak for themselves, he’s an unbelievable quality player who is capable of delivering end products. He has got more than 20 goals last season also in the season before.

“He delivered many assists, also really good teammate so we made sure that we got a really humble and hardworking character and also many technical skills.

“He is able to link a play, to find a pass and we also needed definitely also goals because especially in the last games we were missing.”

A perfect debut

The glowing assessment from his new boss is a testament to the quality Piroe possesses, as he showed the Yorkshire club the impact he can have on their team right from the start, already living up to the promise surrounding his name as he arrived from Swansea.

Piroe is a proven goalscorer in the Championship, and now already one with Leeds, after he scored a combined 41 goals across his last two full seasons with Swansea, and has clearly impressed Farke beyond just his ability to find the net.

There is still work to be done for Leeds if they wish to achieve their ultimate ambition of finishing near the top of the table come May, and earning promotion back to the Premier League, but the Dutchman’s addition to the side will boost their chances significantly.

Following an injury to Patrick Bamford which confounded concerns around him before the season began, Leeds were desperate to bring in a new striker, and have made the right choice after moving to sign Piroe.

In other Leeds United news, another Leeds striker could quit as he wants a Premier League move.
