Daniel Farke shares ‘secrets’ behind Leeds United ‘winning mentality’ at Elland Road
Daniel Farke has shared the secrets behind his Leeds United side’s winning mentality amid a run of form which has seen them lose just once in their last ten games.
The boss insisted that there is no witchcraft behind his team’s performances, explaining that the run has been about being well-prepared and staying focused and confident heading into every game.
Farke also spoke about how crucial it is to ensure the team performs under pressure, being able to stick to their way of playing and not overthinking, as he pointed to away wins at Leicester and Ipswich for examples.

Speaking to Leeds Live [6 December], Farke explained: “No secrets, also no witchcraft. No, it’s more like speaking about general things to send some messages and also to try to implement a winning mentality.
“This is what you need over the whole course of the season in order to be capable of lifting some silverware at the end of the season. You need to make sure [for] 46 times in this league you’re always well prepared, you’re always on it, always focused, always respectful, but also full of confidence and you play with bravery.
“And also to make sure, when it really counts, when there are big games coming up and the pressure is a bit on and the spotlight on the games is on, you don’t lose the nerves and still stick to your beliefs and you’re not overdoing things. This is also what we’ve shown during the season.
“So when I think about our great away wins, for example, Ipswich, also at Leicester. We are definitely on a good path in this, but to be allowed to speak about winning mentalities [should] just [be] at the end of the season.”
Secrets to his success
While Farke claims it is no secret behind his success so far at Elland Road, the work he does behind the scenes has proved crucial to the mentality of this squad in securing a terrific run of form that shows no signs of ending.
As the old adage goes, to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail, and Farke ensures his team are always thoroughly prepared going into games, and will not allow complacency to creep in, something which can often cause issues, despite their flying record of late.

The boss knows how to get promoted. He’s been there and done that, it’s what got him the job at Elland Road. He is proving so far this season that his experience and know-how could pay off.
Leeds have been emphatic in their recent form, scoring bags of goals and casting competitive teams aside as they breeze past in their push for Championship promotion, and if they can keep this up, Farke will be due plenty of praise for the mentality he has installed.
In other Leeds United news, Farke is changing the “dirty Leeds” narrative.
