Confirmed Leeds United team news v Aston Villa in Premier League

Jesse Marsch has confirmed his Leeds United team news for the Premier League showdown against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon (02 October).

The Premier League finally returns to Elland Road after more than one month off due to postponements and the death of the Queen this month.

Rodrigo is back in training after his shoulder injury picked up against Everton, with Archie Gray fracturing his toe and Adam Forshaw twisting his ankle in training.

Speaking live in his press conference as shared on the official club YouTube, Marsch finally returned to sit in front of the media on Friday.

“Archie Gray had an incident at home where he stubbed his toe and fractured a little bit of his big toe, so he’s been out of training for about two weeks and he’ll be out for another two weeks,” he said.

“Adam Forshaw twisted his ankle this week so he won’t be available this week for us.”

Back.

Finally, the Premier League is back for the Whites.

It has been the longest month ever since that defeat at Brentford, with the squad surely desperate to get back on the pitch and make it all right.

Aston Villa have gone the opposite way, with numerous injuries ravaging the squad of Steven Gerrard as Lucas Digne, Matty Cash, Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara all dealing with issues.

That is something we have to take advantage of.

The likes of Patrick Bamford most likely needed the time off to get back to 100% easily, and hopefully, his sharpness comes back with that along the way.

Marsch will be desperate for three points and a fresh start after our form went out of the window before this break, and who better to do it against than one of our fierce rivals?

The squad should look as packed as it has in years, and it’s time to take advantage.
