Championship clubs set to hold another vote but result is a formality – reliable journalist

Leeds United have to vote on one more topic before they can continue their bid to win promotion and that is to vote to resume the season.

On Tuesday, the EFL confirmed that if the season is called to a halt then it will be decided on points-per-game with promotion, play-offs and relegation retained after clubs overwhelmingly voted in favour of the new plans.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon has added that Championship clubs have one more vote to hold and that is on whether or not to proceed with the rest of the season.

However he added on his personal Twitter account that the next vote will be nothing more than a formality with second-tier clubs set to play on and finish the 2019/20 campaign on the pitch.

This is exactly what Leeds have been pushing for and what most Championship clubs want as well.

Hull City have been against the plans to resume the season and have been in favour of using points-per-game to decide final positions now but they are just above the relegation zone with everything to lose should the campaign resume.

Leeds also have a lot to lose once the season restarts but they would not have been seen as proper promotion winners if they had gone up via PPG, without playing the rest of their matches.

All in all, this is very positive news for Leeds and second-tier football as a whole.

In other Leeds United news, fans are thrilled with the club being liked with signing “one of the hottest prospects in Europe”.
