‘Buzzing with this’ – Some Leeds fans react to Phil Hay tweet about commercial deal
Phil Hay’s latest tweet about the new kit deal with Adidas has led to a number of Leeds United fans getting excited on social media.
According to The Athletic journalist, the new kit deal is “in the bag” and while he is unsure of when it will be confirmed by Leeds, it will happen at some point.
Adidas are one of the top kit suppliers in the world while Leeds’ current suppliers Kappa are hardly known for providing strips for top clubs.
This imminent deal with Adidas is bound to be a much more lucrative one and if the Whites are able to win promotion, then you would imagine it would net the club a lot more money than what Kappa would have.
Hay reported last week that Leeds have sold more than 110,000 shirts this season – which is more than what some Premier League clubs have been able to do.
Adidas clearly know that there is a big market for them in West Yorkshire and promotion to the top-flight and increased exposure in the media is only going to help that.
We need to hope that we can get there to start with but all the signs are positive surrounding this deal, and that is why some fans on Twitter are excited by Hay’s latest update on the off-field deal.
