‘Best tweet in a long time’ – Luke Ayling delighted with Leeds post on social media

Leeds United will finally get the chance to seal promotion to the Premier League once the Championship season restarts on Saturday.

The Whites will have to wait their turn though, as they will travel to Cardiff on Sunday afternoon in a lunchtime kick-off.

It’s been a while since it has been match week in the Championship, with fans and players having to wait three months to get that feeling back.

Leeds sent a celebratory post on their official Twitter account on Monday morning, simply letting us all know that football is back.

Luke Ayling was on the video they posted from his celebrations against Huddersfield, and he was one of the first to comment on it.

“Best tweet in a long time,” he wrote.

We can probably only describe the feeling of football returning as similar to what we felt after Ayling thundered home that volley in the 2-0 win – sensational.

It will be an amazing feeling once the season gets kicked off yet again, and Leeds are known for their ability to get out of the traps quickly.

Take these examples from Marcelo Bielsa’s time in charge. His first game at the club against Stoke was phenomenal, the Whites battered the recently-relegated side and there were no complaints about the result.

Then, when everyone thought that last season’s play-off disappointment would derail Leeds, they travelled to Bristol City at the beginning of this campaign and eased to a 3-1 victory.

Leeds had 18 shots, kept 59.3% possession and almost completed 200 more passes than the home side who have been tipped by many for the play-offs [WhoScored].

Football is nearly back, and this could be sent as a warning to Cardiff and Neil Harris.
