Best-selling author wants Leeds United to hire Tata Martino as he messages Andrea Radrizzani
Best-selling New York Times author Hunter Walker has messaged Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani on Twitter urging him to appoint Gerardo Martino as Jesse Marsch’s replacement.
The Whites are still searching for an appointment of their new manager following the sacking of Jesse Marsch over a week ago [6 February], following the club’s dreadful form and position in the Premier League table.
The club reportedly made an approach for Martino with the Argentinian yet to completely rule out the idea of taking over at Elland Road, according to a report from TNT Sports [13 February].
The Whites have also been linked with former Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard, according to a report in the The Sunday People [back page & page 63, 12 February].
And Walker, taking to his personal Twitter account, messaged Radrizzani and urged him to appoint Martino and stated that appointing Gerrard “is a disaster in waiting” [14 February].
Steer clear
Both Gerrard and Martino would be incredibly risky and unthinkable appointments for the Leeds United board, considering their current plight in the league table.
The club desperately need a manager who has Premier League experience under his belt, one capable of galvanising a young squad and providing them with the tools to secure their English top-flight future.

It is hugely surprising and baffling that Victor Orta has not prioritised such an appointment, but instead going for managers with no Premier League experience at all, bar Gerrard.
Why not go for Nuno Espirito Santo, who is currently being linked with the role at Elland Road? The Portuguese possess the characteristics needed to drag the club back up the table, and also build towards a much more stable and steady future having done so for a number of years at Wolves after taking back into the Premier League promised land.
The Leeds faithful will certainly be on edge because of how long the process is taking, but it is a decision that will ultimately prove decisive in their future beyond May. It must be taken with considerable care.
