BBC journalist: Leeds announcement due on Monday after high-level meeting over EFL suspension

Leeds United are set to make more announcements on Monday after holding a high-level meeting amid the current coronavirus pandemic, according to BBC journalist Adam Pope.

On Friday, it was confirmed that all Premier League and EFL action will be suspended for the rest of March, halting Leeds’ momentum at the top of the Championship table as they aim to seal promotion back to the top-flight.

While it is a decision that has been made in the best interest of public health and safety, there is still a lot of uncertainty about what will happen with the current football season.

Pope claims that the Whites will a meeting on Monday in light of the league being suspended and once there is more information to share, fans will be made aware of what has been discussed.

“At least we’ve had some announcements now and Leeds are going to make more announcements on Monday after their senior management meeting,” Pope said on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday night.

“The message coming out from them otherwise – and Huddersfield and Bradford – is to keep hold of your tickets, they’ll be valid for any rearranged fixtures going forward.”

It is not clear what Leeds’ senior management will discuss in these meetings but there are bound to be a lot of questions and issues raised that could be forward onto the EFL and FA.

We need some clarity on where the season stands. Will it be null and voided? Will the season end with everyone in their current position? Will fixtures be arranged and played at a later date?

The action is currently suspended until the start of April but there’s no guarantee that the Whites will be back in action by then.

We just need to take each day as it comes, it seems.
