Agent of Leeds player Pascal Struijk speaks out after Netherlands snub

Agent of Pascal Struijk, Tim Vrouwe has spoken out after the Leeds United defender has snubbed an international call-up from the Netherlands.

Belgium have created a tug-of-war over the colossus, with Roberto Martinez trying to tempt the 21-year-old and his international status.

With Struijk turning down the Netherlands, the injured Whites ace will be staying at Thorp Arch during the upcoming international breaks.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Vrouwe has claimed that Struijk is yet to make a decision between the two nations, and is continuing with the process to gain a Belgian passport.

“Pascal needs more time to make a good choice”, he said.

“This is not easy for various reasons. He is absolutely flattered by the invitation of the Jong Oranje. But if he takes action for this, he can no longer come out for Belgium. The top team of one of these superpowers is the main goal for Pascal.

“The moment we have completed the Belgian passport procedure, he can assess the sporting plan of both unions. And only then can he really make a final choice.”

The interesting difference is made clear here.

Belgium could have offered Struijk a spot in their senior side this month looking at Martinez’ comments, whereas the Netherlands only could offer a youth spot.

The fact that the 21-year-old is continuing his Belgian passport application could be a big hint that he is leaning towards the Red Devils and Martinez.

Marcelo Bielsa has transformed the youngster this season, and no one would have thought he would have made 15 Premier League starts.

Depending on this injury, and the return of others, Struijk may not get many chances to impress again this season so his choice may be around the corner.
