Sean Longstaff surprise emerges already after what Daniel Farke has done at Leeds
Daniel Farke has already made some questionable decisions at Leeds this season.
With four points from the first possible nine, Leeds have had a fairly solid start to the season without doing an awful lot.
With that said, Lukas Nmecha’s penalty against Everton on the opening day is still the only goal they have scored this season, sparking concern in that area.
Anton Stach has hit the ground running at Leeds, though several others that arrived throughout the summer have had to wait for their chance, with a surprise aspect emerging in the form of Sean Longstaff.

MOT Leeds News presents the exclusive opinion of iconic football commentator Ian Darke.
Ian Darke cannot understand Sean Longstaff’s lack of involvement
Given the reputation he once had at Newcastle, Longstaff’s arrival at Leeds was met with a lot of optimism.
However, since making the move to Elland Road, his only meaningful appearance for the Whites came as a result of injuries to Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu.
Longstaff’s record in the Premier League this season
- Three appearances
- One start
- 123 minutes played
His lack of involvement in the league has made Ian Darke question the reasons behind it.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “I don’t know whether in training or they just don’t feel he’s shown up well enough so far.
“But I think Longstaff will force his way in; it’s maybe just a transition period with him in settling in. I think that was a good buy for them, and I’d expect him to see plenty of action, really.”

Daniel Farke must avoid Ilia Gruev bias
Throughout his time at Leeds, Farke has had clear favourites.
No matter the situation, a handful of players would always take priority over others, despite often being behind in quality.
It’s no different this season, and if Farke is to succeed, he needs to utilise Longtsfaff far more often at Leeds, even from the start.
He may need time to gel, but given his experience in the top flight, utilising him should be a no-brainer for the German.
