Leeds United have been dealt another huge injury blow, just a day after it was confirmed that Robin Kock was to undergo knee surgery.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, as reported by Phil Hay on his personal Twitter account, Marcelo Bielsa revealed that summer signing Diego Llorente will be sidelined ‘for at least two weeks’ with a muscle injury.
It is a nasty stroke of luck for the Whites, who now look like they may need to utilise Luke Ayling as a makeshift central defender.
The Athletic’s Leeds United correspondent added that Bielsa also has no plans to sign a new central defender when the January window opens next month.
Llorente was rushed back into action on Saturday night following Koch’s early injury at Stamford Bridge.
Bielsa had previously expressed his desire to ease the Spaniard back into action by playing him in the U-23s, but he has not been afforded such a luxury.
It is an untimely blow for Llorente, who has had to bide his time at Elland Road after joining the club for £18million from Real Sociedad back in September.
These Leeds United fans have been reacting to the latest injury news on social media and it is fair to say that the news did not go down particularly well.
Knew it. He pulled up when Pulisic scored… noticed that straight away. Jesus wept. Let’s hope Victors little black book is in full use lol
