Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has been struggling with a long-term injury since the beginning of last season.

He eventually had surgery on the hip problem and targeted an August return.

That date, like many others that had been set for him last season, came and went.

The latest fitness update on the player came from Marcelo Bielsa this season when he said that he would need up to five Under-23s games before he could be considered for the first team.

He hasn’t featured for the Under-23s yet and that means he’s not going to play first-team football until 2021.

He did take place in a Q&A with the #LUFC Foundation for a “mental health and wellbeing session” and many Leeds fans reacted to the official post.

One fan said that he thought it was “great that with [the] injury nightmare he has had, that he takes time to talk to others about their mental health.”

That was the overriding sentiment from Leeds fans who haven’t given up on seeing him play for the club again.

Given how long it’s been, though, that might not be a given anymore, which would be a real shame.

And some Leeds fans have given up on him already, with one saying he “should be released”.

That’s not the Leeds way, though. We’ve proved that with Gaetano Berardi and we think Forshaw deserves the same level of support.

It’s a real shame as he was in arguably his best form for Leeds when he was injured and would be the perfect cover for Kalvin Phillips when he’s out.

We wish him all the best in his recovery and hope, like plenty of fans that he will make his return in the Premier League this season.
