Leeds United fans have been debating the qualities of Swansea City’s Conor Hourihane after he impressed against Norwich in a 2-0 win on Friday.

One fans said he would be keen to have the midfielder at Elland Road, and that sparked the discussion.

The Republic of Ireland international is a well-known figure amongst Whites fans.

At Aston Villa he was a key promotion rival and was a bit of a controversial figure after that memorable game at Elland Road in 2019.

Even Andrea Radrizzani got involved in the post-match discussions about that match, stating he was “speechless” at the fact Hourihane went unpunished for punching Mateusz Klich.

Hourihane may not have many fans amongst the Whites hierarchy, therefore.

It is also extremely unlikely that he’d ever end up at Elland Road after flopping in the Premier League with Villa – hence the loan to Swansea last month.

He was good on Friday however, rifling in a brilliant strike from 25 yards.

Many supporters have commented on his “wand of a left foot” and also his skill on set-pieces.

For others that is not enough to warrant bringing him in.

After signing players like Rodrigo and Raphinha last summer we support that feeling.

Leeds have moved past players like Hourihane and we will be looking to upgrade on the options we currently have in the summer.

Hourihane is not good enough to break into our starting line-up and at 30 his peak years are behind him.

That hasn’t stopped some furious debate among fans, though.
