Leeds United fans were delighted by Mateusz Klich’s performance on Saturday despite the Poland international being on the wrong side of a 4-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.
Klich, 30, assisted Patrick Bamford’s goal but was unlucky to have not picked up another assist in the first half when Bamford had a goal unfairly ruled out for offside.
The former Twente ace has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water, scoring two goals and supplying three assists in eight top-flight appearances.
Stats by WhoScored show no midfielder has averaged more passes per game [56.8] than Klich in the Leeds squad this season. The Pole also ranks third for key passes per game [1.8] and no one has more assists that him.
Klich’s a real superstar in this team and didn’t deserve to be in a team that lost 4-1 to Palace on Saturday.
That sentiment is bound to be shared by a lot of fans, with one even claiming that Leeds should be worried about potentially losing Klich to a Premier League rival if he continues to play as well as he is doing right now.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Who was your MOTM today?
No doubt for me, Mateusz Klich. #LUFC

Can we talk about Klich? He’s so good

Bamford hands down best lufc player today. Klich had a good 60 minutes. EVERYONE ELSE was appalling

Klich. Thought he ran his little heart out today. Best of the bad bunch today

You don’t want think about these things but if a top team isn’t looking at Klich I’ll be amazed, and we’ll do well to keep hold of him.
Despite being on the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat he was brilliant today, our best player by a country mile #lufc

Klich has stepped up to the Premier League more than anyone else. Should have had 2 assists today.

Try and balance this out
-Centre Backs poor
-Harrison, pass the ball
-Meslier, youth showed
-Bamford, played well
-Raphina did well
-Alisoki Dalla did well

Klich by far rest of midfield and defence were rotten

We’re not worried about losing Klich.
At the age of 30, it’s unlikely that he will want to move on after being so vital for Marcelo Bielsa in both the Championship and the Premier League.
Klich’s contract doesn’t expire until 2024 either so it’s not as though the Whites will be in any rush to let the midfielder go.
Let’s just enjoy the Poland international as much as we can this season because as shown in the last week, the Premier League can really kick you when you’re down.
Pointing out positives like this is will help us get through what has turned into a sticky patch of form.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites will write to the Premier League and PGMOL about Mike Dean.
