Leeds United midfielder Alfie McCalmont finally sealed his long-awaited loan exit out of Elland Road on Friday afternoon.

The young Whites talent confirmed his loan move to League Two side Oldham Athletic, after signing a four-year deal in West Yorkshire this summer.

McCalmont has followed Jordan Stevens out of the exit door already in this window, with others expected to seal loan moves to gain experience.

McCalmont moving to Boundary Park will see him link up with former Leeds player Harry Kewell, who is currently in charge.

The Australian isn’t thought of highly at Elland Road after he left the club to move to Liverpool and has been consistently slammed ever since.

When the club were financially troubled, Kewell refused to leave immediately and didn’t help himself when sealing a move to Galatasaray years later in 2008.

Despite many great moments such as the Champions League run, Kewell has never and probably won’t ever recover his relationship with the Whites faithful.

Time will tell whether or not it is a good move for the youngster, who admitted he was eager for senior experience this season.

Many Leeds fans have reacted to the news of McCalmont, claiming that they are delighted that he can go out and get some experience.

The majority of the comments were flooded with questions such as why are the Whites helping out Kewell by handing him the young Northern Ireland international.
