Leeds United fans are excited by the idea of signing John Swift from Reading after being linked with the central midfielder.

BerkshireLive has reported that Leeds are interested in signing the 25-year-old, who has been the subject of a £3.5million bid from Sheffield United.

Swift has had an impressive season at the Madejski Stadium.

He has scored five goals and supplied 11 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Royals, who are facing uncertain times due to their financial situation.

Leeds could take advantage of Reading’s financial woes as the Berkshire club might be forced into selling key assets such as Swift.

Whether or not Leeds sign Swift is likely to depend upon winning promotion to the Premier League.

He’s done well enough in the Championship to suggest he’s ready to take the step up to the top-flight but if he can do that for Marcelo Bielsa remains to be seen.

Swift is a great player but we have reservations about his readiness for the Premier League.

Still, that has not stopped these Leeds fans from waxing lyrical about the Royals midfielder, who they would be happy to see head to Elland Road.

One has even tipped him to replace Mateusz Klich in the Leeds side – something which we cannot see.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Klich has been an ever-present for Bielsa since the Argentine was appointed with him starting every single Championship match under his charge.

We cannot see Bielsa wanting to sign a replacement for Klich and we do not really think they are the same sort of player.

Swift would probably be a more ideal replacement for Pablo Hernandez, who is 35-years-old now and a young understudy to him could be brought in over the summer.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has detailed Bielsa’s stance on Jean-Kevin Augustin.
