‘Jesus’, ‘Is he even in England?’ – Many Leeds fans react to player update from BBC journalist

Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that the three players that were out injured for the 0-0 against Arsenal are all out again for the game against Everton, and some Leeds United fans are beyond frustrated about Diego Llorente.

The centre-back has only made the bench once since he signed for £18m in the summer and that’s led to Pascal Struijk and Luke Ayling being played in the centre of defence this season.

The news was relayed by BBC journalist Adam Pope on Thursday afternoon.

Llorente was fit. He started for Spain in the game against Portugal in October and he had a brilliant game, leaving Leeds fans saying things like “Pocketing Ronaldo”.

Unfortunately, he suffered a groin strain while on international duty, at the same time as Liam Cooper.

Cooper only missed two games but it was said back then that the Llorente injury would take longer.

Well, that’s gone on and on and there doesn’t seem to be any time frame put on his return now.

Leeds have some history with signing injured/unfit players. Izzy Brown hardly played on his season-long loan, Jean-Kevin Augustin didn’t get a start last season and was sent packing when his initial loan period was over.

Many Leeds fans are making parallels with Adam Forshaw. He hasn’t played since last September after an initial injury that was only supposed to last two weeks.

That’s dragged on and on too, and while he’s said to be nearing a return, that’s been the case for a good few months now.

Some Leeds fans are starting to wonder if Llorente will play this year with a couple saying sarcastically, “What a signing”.
