Leeds United under-23s were once again in action on Friday night, drawing 1-1 with Wolves in the Premier League Cup.
Carlos Corberan picked a strong side at Bootham Crescent, with Gaetano Berardi and Ian Poveda both starting from the first-team – completing 90 minutes.
The Spaniard also handed a start to Jordan Stevens after the winger scored and impressed in the recent 4-1 victory over Bolton in the Professional Development League.
Stevens definitely shined and was the Whites’ standout man in the first-half before being replaced at the break – a move that will all but confirm he will be on the bench against Reading in the Championship.
The former Forest Green youngster took a number of superb first-touches in the draw and caused constant problems for the Wolves defence with his awkward dribbling style which saw him weave in between his men with ease.
He also assisted Bobby Kamwa’s goal, bringing down a long ball before putting in a challenge which saw the ball fall into the path of the forward to smash home.

Many Leeds fans took to Twitter to heap praise on the young winger, with some even claiming that he is currently ahead of Poveda in the eyes of Marcelo Bielsa.
The bench against Reading on Saturday should prove that, and Poveda completing 90 minutes could be the first clue that it will be Stevens in the matchday squad on Saturday.
MOT Leeds News have picked out the best reactions to Stevens from Twitter…
Agree, Jordan Stevens is in front of Poveda at moment, however I thought that was Poveda's best game yet for u23's

Good fitness, good work rate
Just lacks that bit of quality on the ball still, either final ball, touch or decision making
If you could combine his physicality with Bogusz' skill

Stevens is gonna be some player

Stevens has come off the bench already in the Championship, having a positive cameo at Loftus Road most recently in the 1-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers.
If he continues at this rate, it won’t be long before he is thrown into the deep end once again by Bielsa this season.
Very good, Stevens

Number 7 Stevens look a great prospect, very confident on the ball, only played half game so expect him on the bench tomorrow
