Some Leeds United fans are fearing the worst after it was reported that Leicester have entered the race for top transfer target Rodrigo De Paul.

Leeds have been strongly linked with a moved for De Paul but the Premier League season starts on Saturday.

Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari posted the worrying update on Sunday night and his claims were also reported by journalist Nicolo Schira.

Schira also claimed that Leeds have offered De Paul a four-year contract as they try to finalise a move for the Argentina international.

This is the first time another Premier League side has been linked with De Paul and Leicester have the money after selling Ben Chilwell to Chelsea.

And, as many Leeds fans pointed out, they can also offer European football after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season.

However, on the flip side, Leicester have a number of attacking and midfield options in their side – Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Dennis Praet.

However, we’d take De Paul above any of those and if Brendan Rodgers is serious about De Paul it could be a real issue.

As far as we’re aware, no offer has come from Leicester yet and we still have hope that their interest will fizzle out.

De Paul might also fancy playing under fellow Argentine Marcelo Bielsa.

Here are the reactions from concerned Leeds fans…
