‘Very lucrative deal’ – Exclusive: Pundit reacts as Phil Hay hints at upcoming off-pitch deal

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that another two seasons of Take Us Home, including Leeds’ first season back in the Premier League could be a really lucrative deal for the club.

The behind-the-scenes Amazon documentary chronicled the first season of Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds.

Hay had said that Leeds doubted whether Amazon were going to commit to a new season.

However, the cameras are there and Hay has now said, “Interested to see what Amazon do tbh. The story’s become pretty interesting (and unique).”

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, we asked Robinson if a trilogy would make sense, with Season 2 this campaign and then ending with Leeds’ first season back in the Premier League.

“If I was a player I wouldn’t like it. It isn’t something I would have enjoyed.

“But it’s obviously a very lucrative deal for Leeds. And, while I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as a player, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching it, the Leeds one and the Man City one too.

“My son’s a Man City fan and he’s loved watching the behind-the-scenes in the City one.

“The first one at Leeds, it was quite obvious it should have been the season we went up but didn’t.

“Listen, if it’s not intrusive for the manager or the players to have the cameras behind-the-scenes for Leeds’ first season back in the Premier League, then it could be a really lucrative deal if it was on offer.”

We can’t imagine that Marcelo Bielsa is a big fan of having cameras everywhere but Take Us Home was a brilliant documentary for fans and a great way of chronicling Bielsa’s time in charge for the history books.

We’d love to see a trilogy and think it makes perfect sense. Who wouldn’t want to see the madness unfold this season and then get a close look at Bielsa’s first crack at the Premier League.
