'What a signing' - Many Leeds fans delighted by new contract for 'future legend'

Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to convey their delight at Bobby Kamwa signing a new deal with the club.

The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Whites that is expected to run until at least 2022.

The club announced the news via their official website on Friday.

The versatile midfielder has struggled with injuries this season, but had hit three goals in five appearances for the U23s prior to the Coronavirus lockdown.

That trio of strikes included a finely taken finish against Barnsley in March following a superb run from Ian Poveda, superbly displaying Kamwa’s talent for arriving in the box late and catching defenders off-guard.

And many supporters are convinced that the Cameroonian can replicate that kind of form for the first team at some point in the future too.

Among those commenting were a number of fans who have watched Kamwa play first hand, and who state that he is often the standout player on the pitch for the U23s.

You would be inclined to agree with them too.

The fact that Kamwa has been handed a new contract despite the fact that he has endured a season heavily hampered by injury would seemingly suggest that the club believe he is player worth gambling on.

Marcelo Bielsa is not the kind of manager to hang on to players who he does not believe can make a genuine impact on his plans.

Don’t be surprised if Kamwa is given his shot in the first team at some point before the expiration of this new two-year contract.
