After a mystery absence, it looks like young Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt is back and ready for action after he was spotted training with the first-team squad ahead of the game against Newcastle next Tuesday.
Leeds released their latest training video and a number of young Leeds stars were present, including Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Cody Drameh.
The video was put out on LUTV ahead of the game at St James’ Park next week.
Leeds don’t play this weekend after getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Crawley.
We’re especially delighted to see Gelhardt back in training after a mystery absence.
He hasn’t played for the Under-23s since December and was absent for the last two games.
BBC journalist Adam Pope had said he wasn’t injured.
I’m told he’s not injured.

Then, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth ruled out the other option we’d been thinking about.
Writing in a Q&A on Wednesday, Smyth said, “His 23s absence this week wasn’t Covid-19 related either.”
Whatever the reason for him being sidelined, we’re delighted that it’s not a Leeds issue, with the striker in first-team training.
In his absence, Sam Greenwood made his first-team debut against Crawley. We hope that Gelhardt can make his first-team bow soon, even if it’s just on the bench.
Bielsa talked him up recently saying, “They are players who can be submitted to some bigger challenges than the under-23 games. There was a lot of expectations that these players can have minutes, as well as Gelhardt and Cresswell because they have been playing well to deserve minutes.” [Leeds Live]
Gelhardt broke into the Wigan first-team before he signed for us. We wouldn’t be surprised to see him do the same for Leeds sometime this season.
