Patrick Bamford turned in a poor individual display during his Leeds United side’s 1-0 win over Everton last weekend.
Raphinha’s first Leeds goal handed Marcelo Bielsa’s side a hard-fought win at Goodison Park as Bamford struggled to make his numerous chances count.
The 27-year-old has been deadly on the road this season but he couldn’t keep up his goalscoring record on Saturday as he drew a blank for the second game in a row after failing to net against Arsenal.
The stats show that Bamford’s poor performance goes much further than simply failing to score.
According to Wyscout, Bamford had six shots against the Toffees but he only managed to get one of them on target which left him with a shot on target rate of 17% which is incredibly poor for a Premier League striker.
For context, in the same game, Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin managed to get 50% of his shots on target.
From Bamford’s Wyscout heatmap you can see that he had the ball most often just inside the Everton box.
This is the right place for Bamford to be, it was just his finishing that let him down at Goodison Park as his positioning seems to be one of the better aspects of his game against the Toffees.
The Leeds striker was also poor in his battles with the Everton defence.
Bamford failed to complete any of his attempted dribbles as he was easily dispossessed by the Everton defenders.
The 27-year-old only won 38% of his total duels against the Toffees and he also failed to win any of his loose ball duels.
Bamford also failed to win any of his aerial duels against the Everton defenders and he also managed to give away two fouls on what was an afternoon to forget for the striker.
Overall, 68% of Bamford’s total attempted actions were unsuccessful which means that more often than not he was letting his side down.
With Bielsa’s reluctance to make drastic changes to his side it is likely that Bamford will start against Chelsea next week but he will have to improve if he is to keep his place with Rodrigo sat on the bench waiting for his moment to shine.
In other Leeds United news, some Leeds fans have blasted Graeme Souness after he made a bizarre claim about Kalvin Phillips.
