View: Liam Cooper to start, Patrick Bamford axed - Leeds United predicted XI vs Chelsea

Leeds United look to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when they host Chelsea at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

The Whites picked up an opening day win over Wolves before dropping a 2-0 lead away at Southampton to draw 2-2 last time out.

But with predicted title challengers Chelsea up next, Jesse Marsch is likely to change things slightly to assure himself of the best chance of being successful.

In goal Illan Meslier is the man that will get the nod after another great start to the season, which has seen him attract the attention of Tottenham in particular.

Leeds have struggled defensively, conceding plenty of chances against Wolves and being carved open twice by Southampton, and Marsch could bring skipper Liam Cooper back into the fold with the hope of bolstering the team.

Rasmus Kristensen and Pascal Struijk are likely to get the nod in the wing-back positions as Marsch moves to a back five, with Cooper slotting into the middle of current centre back partership Robin Koch and Diego Llorente.

In midfield Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have done a great job so far of combining great energy and power with passing precision and transitional qualities, and they should continue to build that partnership once again in this game.

In attack there are plenty of options for Marsch to select from, following the return to fitness of summer signing Luis Sinisterra and the impressive Under-23’s performances of Crysencio Summerville once again.

Brenden Aaronson is likely to retain his place on the right after two solid performances from the American, while Jack Harrison remains a key man in Marsch’s plans on the left.

In attack Patrick Bamford suffered another injury in the draw against Southampton, and while it’s not believed to be a serious issue it could be enough for Marsch to leave him out against his former club.

Rodrigo is currently the top goalscorer in the Premier League with three goals in two games and the Spanish international could be given the nod as the most advanced player to cash in on that form in the altered formation.

Leeds predicted XI vs Chelsea: Meslier; Koch, Cooper, Llorente; Kristensen, Roca, Adams, Struijk; Aaronson, Rodrigo, Harrison.
