Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa promised that there would be some more players returning from injury with the Under-23s on Friday afternoon.

He didn’t disappoint and while Kalvin Phillips wasn’t one of them, Rodrigo was a very exciting second best.

Thousands of Leeds fans tuned in to watch his return against Wolves on Friday and were thrilled by a two-goal performance that he almost turned into a hat-trick on 44 minutes.

He was scheduled to play for 45 minutes and he came through that completely unscathed and with Leeds fans left wanting more.

The official Leeds Twitter account posted footage of his first goal, a smart left-footed shot after a well-worked free-kick routine.

If you haven’t seen it you can watch it in the tweet below and it will leave you super-excited for Monday’s clash with West Ham.

Some fans think that Monday will come too soon for Rodrigo but we’re thinking that he’s too big a player not to put in your starting XI if he’s fit.

And the footage from the Aggborough Stadium on Friday has left us convinced that he’s ready to go.

There’s no doubt that we’ve missed him.

Pablo Hernandez isn’t in favour at the moment and Tyler Roberts has started the last few games.

With all due respect to Roberts, Rodrigo is a step above and the West Ham clash is a tough one.

It’s also the game where we could guarantee our Premier League status and we think that is more likely to happen if Rodrigo is on the pitch.

We think he starts. We hope he starts. And if you’ve watched that video, chances are you feel exactly the same way.
