Leeds United will have had a big break by the time they play Newcastle next Tuesday.
We didn’t play in midweek after our game against Southampton was postponed, and we’re not playing this weekend after our disastrous turn in the FA Cup.
That will give the players plenty of time to get the recent bad run out of their heads. And, if we were going to handpick a team to play after three losses in a row without scoring it would be Newcastle.
They haven’t won since we smashed them 5-2 at Elland Road and that’s been an eight-game run that’s only seen them score two goals.
We think Bielsa will make three changes from the team that put in the worst performance of the season against Brighton.
All three will be welcomed by fans.
Firstly, Kalvin Phillips is back after serving his one-game suspension against Brighton.
He’ll come in for Pascal Struijk.
Illan Meslier should be back from his illness to take the gloves from Kiko Casilla. We’d be very surprised if Bielsa sticks with Casilla despite a decent display against Brighton.
The final change should see a first start for Diego Llorente, who put in a brilliant shift against Stoke in the Under-23s game this week.
He scored the only goal of the game and came through his allotted 45 minutes without a hint of his previous injury.
He looked sharp and ready to start building a partnership with Liam Cooper at the back.
This is the starting XI we think will have too much for Newcastle on Tuesday night…
