Time for Sonny Perkins to debut for Leeds United after injury to Rodrigo Moreno
Leeds United are going through an interesting season where they started in a positive manner after securing seven points from the first three matches.
However, after that, things started to turn sour for the Whites as the side only managed to secure one point from the next three.
One of the star performers for Leeds in the early part of the season was striker Rodrigo Moreno who was on fire and scored four times in the first five Premier League matches.
But the 31-year-old suffered a shoulder injury in the match against Everton which ruled him out at least till the international break.
Give Sonny Perkins a chance
Leeds entered the transfer window looking to bring in players to strengthen several positions for the 2022-23 campaign following a turbulent season where they narrowly managed to escape relegation.
The Whites ended up signing eight first-team players but other than that, they also bring in a number of highly-rated youngsters as well with having an eye on the future and one of them was young striker Sonny Perkins. The England U18 international joined the club on a free transfer from West Ham U21s.
Looking at how Leeds failed to strengthen the forward line which was their primary objective knowing there was clearly overreliance on Patrick Bamford — who has struggled with injuries — it just might be a perfect opportunity for Jesse Marsch to consider giving some senior-team minutes to the 18-year-old.
Perkins has so far already scored four times in just five matches in the Premier League 2, that too in just 317 minutes [Transfermarkt], and is never-before-seen in the first team.
Now is the time to possibly unleash him.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have reached an agreement to sign a left-back, according to his agent.
