Steven Gerrard would be 'disaster in waiting' at Leeds United as speculation emerges
Leeds United are still in the process of appointing their next manager following the sacking of Jesse Marsch, but they are yet to land one.
They have spoken to a host of managers but have failed to lure them to Elland Road. Their hunt has taken them to Steven Gerrard who reportedly has become a viable contender for the job.
Leading candidates like Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot all proved to be out of reach for Leeds, and 90min’s Graeme Bailey said on Talking Transfers podcast from 90min (14 February, 11min 55sec) that the Whites have been in contact with Gerrard’s representative to bring him to Elland Road.
The news of Gerrard potentially becoming the new manager at Elland Road doesn’t boost confidence, with New York Times best-selling author, Hunter Walker, suggesting on Twitter (14 February) that the former Villa manager is a “disaster in waiting”.
Indeed, it would be a massive disaster if the Whites bring Gerrard to the club. Let’s be honest, Gerrard is a Premier League legend as a player, but his time at Villa Park indicates that he is not the right candidate for Leeds.
While the SPFL title win with Rangers was undoubtedly an impressive achievement, his time at Aston Villa is nothing other than a failure. Villa would have been fighting a relegation battle if he was still in charge.

Gerrard probably can bring Gary McAllister with him. The 58-year-old was a former Leeds player, and he is loved by the fans. But will it bring big changes to the result?
Leeds need to be very cautious with the appointment of their next manager. They must learn from their previous mistakes. Gerrard can guide them to Premier League safety in the short run, but there are chances that the Whites could go backward after a certain stage, as it happened with Villa. That would be a catastrophe.
